It is Not About What You Want

It is a big mistake.  People interested in driving performance want to see change and transformation.  They can see the problem and the solution and the end state.  They have a vision. They bring this vision to the decision maker/s, and almost 85% of the time their vision gets shot down before they even present it.

Why?

They are too focused on their agenda and not enough on what’s in it for anyone else.  There is an easy way to fix this.If you are passionate about transformation and can see the benefits of a change initiative, you have to start thinking about the approvals you are going to need in order to kick your initiative off. This requires a very simple formula to start with.

The formula is driven by an insight. The insight is simply this. Influence happens when you align to the agenda of the people you are trying to influence.

Said a different way. People want to know what is in it for them which means you have to start preparing that narrative now.
